The Story

Often some of the best terrestrial fishing in the late summer and early fall is during the late evening with dry flies. Most of the good hatches are a memory and you and the fish are looking for anything that flies. This foam ant with the bright orange dot on the abdomen of its body is durable and easy to see in the evening light, or during midday in the shade of banks and overhangs when the sun is bright and you're having trouble seeing on the darker water. Color, Black.

Sizes: 14, 16, 18.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from QUICK SIGHT DOT This fly, like the Quick Sight beetle catches fish, but the dots keeps falling off. I know this has been a common problem as other reviews has said the same thing. So how about fixing the problem with a coating over the dots. (it is only painted on) My review would have been a 5, but I have to fix the flies before I use them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to Follow in the Riffles This fly is very realistic AND I can follow it through the riffles to make sure it has a drag free drift and I can react quickly to strikes!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from When fish are on ants...it works like a charm. Good floater and easy to see on the water - the orange dot helps~

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Highly visible I had a chance to use the hi vis ant this week and was very pleased at how easy it was to see. Although I didn't catch anything with it, I did have a couple of short strikes.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great as an indicator fly when using a dropper. We were introduced to these at Savage River Outfitters Shop in Maryland last fall. Great as a strike indicator when using a dropper and generated as many hits as the dropper.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Orvis foam ant A classic late summer fly for Montana/Wyoming, always productive.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent fly pattern I have found small black ant patterns in general to be one of the most effective for catching trout in the streams of Montana and Wyoming. This particular fly with the foam body does not become water logged. I think the leg appendages adds realism to their appearance with the fish. The red dot is very helpful for locating.
