Well made
Utilize on my 8wt intermediate line between tapered leader and my hook clip. Not looking for protection from teeth as much as easy attachment between more expensive tapered leader and changing flies

Musky Beware
If you fish for anything capable of biting through tippet you need these guards in tour bag. I’ve used them for years on Musky and never had them fail. Easy to attach and make changing flies a breeze.

My go to bite guards.
I use it in a number of situations, from fishing locally in our transition waters (gulf to bay) to brackish waters upstream from the bay. ( never know what you're going to hook up with.

Convenient but tricky
I used these wade fishing the keys for barracuda. The package directions are minimalist. With some trial and error I learned to open the twist and tie them on without bending the wire (these need to stay straight to work right.) Instead of picking at the twist end, grab just below twist end and also at loop end then gently flex in a circular motion, just enough to pop loose the first couple of twists. Then you can pinch the tag and unravel. Run it through the eye of fly and do the same in reverse. Then attach your leader with an improved clinch and pull against the hook bend with finger or tool to tighten. Bite guard wire stays straight and you're ready to hook up with a toothy critter.

Simple and easy
I found this in the Orvis store after losing two flies to Northern Pike when fishing for Bass. I like that it is easy to change flies and still lightweight enough not be a big hunk of leader in front of the fly
