The Story

Created by top Scottish angler Craig McDonald, this fly has been taking the European river scene by storm. It is favored as the point fly on a French-style nymphing rig, and conveniently fishes point up to reduce bottom hang ups. A tungsten bead head means the fly drops quickly and a natural CDC hackle wound behind the head ensures just a hint of movement in the water.
Sizes 12, 14, 16.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Low quality doesn't match high price Expensive fly should look incredible, lackluster materials used on this fly

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Stocker Magnet I have fished this fly a ton this year and have absolutely, WORN OUT TROUT. I have used it mostly in tailwaters and have had tremendous luck. I don't go to the river without it. I have only had one or two flies tear up. Had one break at the eye. But this fly is an absolute rainbow magnet. The soft hackle, I think, is what really turns the fish on to this fly. Buy a few and see for yourself.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Very disappointed! Purchased this fly about a month ago, caught one trout on it. I had a bit of a snag...I had to tug llightly because I was using 2 lb test leader. I freed the fly from the snag when, to my dismay, the fly broke...yes, broke. All that was left was my leader tied to the eyelet of the fly and about 2 mm of hook. This has never happened before, especially with Orvis products. I am extremely disappointed in the quality of the fly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Go-to deep water searching pattern I use this when I'm prospecting deeper waters. The tungsten really helps it get down, the jig hook prevents snags, and the CDC moves a lot attracting fish. I use this with clients all the time. Great fly!
