Our Clearwater fly fishing rods are made of mid-modulus graphite with nickel-aluminum reel seats and ceramic inserts in the guides.
Yes, you can use the Clearwater Fly Rods in saltwater and freshwater.
Our most popular Clearwater, the 5-weight, 9’ fly rod, weighs 3.5 ounces. But Clearwater fly fishing rods come in several weights (referring to overall strength) and lengths, starting with the 2-weight, 10’ rod and increasing from there. Check the product pages for more details.
The line that comes with your Clearwater outfit depends on the rod’s weight. For example, the 2-weight rod outfit includes Hydros Tactical Nymph Line, while the 5-weight outfit comes with Clearwater fly line.
To keep the costs of Clearwater rods down, they are manufactured overseas, but we design them in our shop in Manchester, Vermont, where our other rods are made. To tour the Rod Shop, contact our Manchester Flagship Store at 802-362-3750.
Orvis Clearwater Fly Fishing Rods give you more than you’d expect for the price. We fish them everywhere from saltwater flats to backcountry creeks. There’s a Clearwater for just about any job, whether you’re chasing big fish or threading casts through tight cover. Choose the single-hand, two-hand, or the six-piece travel rod—each one’s made to fish hard and hold up to years on the water. Grab the two-hander when you’re swinging streamers, or pack the six-piece when space is tight but you want something solid in hand. Plus, these rods travel light, cast smoothly, and can take a beating. They’re easy for beginners to love and trusted by folks who’ve been at it a long time. Around here, we always keep one rigged and ready.
