Creator Mike Schultz describes the Swinging D was a purpose-driven swim fly design with built-in wounded baitfish motion. Fish can't resist the side-to-side and up-and-down motion, and it can be fished many different ways for varied action, making it versatile for multiple species. Best teamed with an intermediate line, the fly was originally conceived as a full-season river smallmouth pattern, but has proven effective on largemouth, pike, musky, snook, stripers and trout. Fish it with or without movement, and enjoy the attention the rattle, flash and water-pushing head attract.

Uses a size 2/0 for the front hook and a size 2 for the rear hook. Fly measures out to 6” total.
