Weatherby's fishing resource is truly world class. Three-mile-long Grand Lake Stream has been fly fishing only since 1902 and is home to one of four strains of landlocked salmon found in the lower 48. Gin-clear waters, long, smooth pools, and steep, fast water all challenge the fly angler and provide the reward of a leaping landlocked salmon. In addition to our salmon, we fish dozens of pristine and undeveloped glacial lakes for smallmouth bass where 30-75 fish days are common. So, whether you are interested in salmon and trout or smallmouth bass, Weatherby's can provide what you are looking for.
We are open roughly May 1 through October 30. Fishing on Grand Lake Stream closes on October 25. We hunt ruffed grouse and woodcock October 1-30
Landlocked salmon, brook trout, smallmouth bass, largemouth bass, chain pickerel, white perch
Weatherby's is located in Washington County, Maine - the eastern most county in the US. The region was covered by glaciers in the last ice age and as the glaciers receded, they left many large lakes, streams, rivers and huge granite boulders. These lakes are now home to trophy smallmouth bass and landlocked salmon and the rivers that connect them provide endless opportunities for fly fishing and wading. Generally the landscape is flat with gentle hills, but no large mountains. The sandy soil creates opportunities for wild cranberries and blueberries alike. And the fishing is pretty good too!
May weather might be 70 and sunny or 45 and raining. Mid summer can expect temps around 80 with lows in the 60s. October might bring a frost in the morning with high temps in the 50's.
