For the outdoor enthusiasts, along with fly fishing, guests at Primland can enjoy hiking, biking, horseback riding, or RTV tours on the 90 miles of trails on property, 14-station top-rated sporting clays course and 5 stand, paddle boarding, or kayaking on the Talbot Reservoir, bow, air-rifle range, tomahawk tossing, and disc golf. During the fall and winter months, Primland, an Orvis-endorsed wingshooting lodge since 1990, offers European-style driven shoots and continental-style released pheasant shoots along with hunting opportunities for spring gobbler and whitetail deer. Play a round of golf on The Highland Course or relax and rejuvenate at The Spa. Dine on regional cuisine in one of the three restaurants on property and conclude your evening stargazing either from The Observatory or the firepit.
A perfect retreat to Primland is to begin your morning fly fishing in the cool morning mountain air, taking in the surrounding natural beauty of the land. Enjoy a lunch break with traditional pub-fare on the terrace of the 19th Pub. Spend your afternoon pursuing outdoor adventures, like a two0-hour RTV trail ride through logging trails or test your skills on the 14-stand sporting clays course. If your other passion is golf, The Highland Course offers challenging play along with mountain views at every hole. Retreat to the Lodge to enjoy a pint or moonshine in the 19th Pub before you enjoy regional cuisine at Elements or genuine southern cooking and live blue grass music at Stables Saloon. An evening of deep space stargazing from The Observatory's Celetron telescope is a must. Everything you will need is on property, the Outdoor Activity Center and the Pro Shop offer equipment and clothing. The team at the resort will greet you and take care of you with soul, heart, and a commitment to genuine Southern hospitality.
Primland is located on 12,000 acres in southern Virginia's Blue Ridge Mountains. The property is renowned for an abundance of well-managed wildlife and immense natural beauty, developed in an eco-conscious and thoughtful manner to minimize our impact on the environment. Our waterways include the Pinnacles Reservoirs, known as the "Grand Canyon of Virginia,” a rugged 6-mile stretch of the Dan River, and privately stocked Big Ivy Creek along with 3 additional stocked ponds, and the Talbott Reservoir. With Primland’s spacious grounds and varied topography, each guided outing promises to be challenging and inherently unique. The intensely managed game habitat is made up of various covers such as grain fields, thickets, and forested ravines.
