The Story

Go fly fishing in Connecticut and enjoy the expertise of Orvis-Endorsed Guide Bert Ouellette: “Float trips are from the comfort of my 2021 Clackacraft drift boat. All clients have use of top-of-the line fly fishing equipment and custom-tied flies and litters. Whether you are just starting out or a seasoned angler, my goal is to create an unforgettable fishing experience for you—not only by guiding, but by teaching and leaving you with a better and broader understanding of this beautiful sport. First and foremost, I want to make sure you have fun on the water."

The Housatonic is a very scenic New England river. It is a fantastic fishery with a covered bridge, long pools, beautiful riffles, and wildlife viewing.

What is provided?

1/2 day float trip includes: fly rods, hand tied flies and litters along with snacks and beverages.
Full day float trip includes: fly rods, hand tied flies and litters along with snacks, beverages and a shore lunch.


Gear Recommendations


Trout fishing: Clients bringing their own fly rods should bring 5-wt. or 6-wt. 9' or 10' length rods.


Bass/Pike/Carp fishing: Clients bringing their own fly rods should bring 8-wt. or 8- to 10-wt. 9' length rods.


Lines: Floating and sinking lines Waders are not necessary, but rain gear is recommended.


What to bring?

Rain gear, sun glasses, hat, sun block.

March - June: Trout, smallmouth bass and Northern pike.
June - August: Smallmouth bass, Northern pike and carp.
September - December: Trout, Northern pike, smallmouth bass and carp.
