The lodge at Falcon's Ledge is a unique structure, handsomely set in a private 600-acre canyon, providing a bird's-eye view of the surrounding canyon, stillwaters, and wildlife. The 15,000-square-foot lodge was designed specifically to provide the ultimate lodging experience for secluded fly-fishing adventures. From the moment you pass through the front gate, you will know you have come to someplace very special. The eight private rooms with full bathrooms offer you privacy and luxury. The lodge provides elegant amenities and service while letting you relax as if you were in your own home. While you will be pampered by their staff, you will still have the freedom of helping yourself to a soft drink or snack in the kitchen. With plenty of luxurious room to relax, you can read a book, play a game of chess, shoot pool in the game room, watch the deer, or soak in the hot tub.

Meals:

At Falcon's Ledge Lodge, delicious, homemade meals are provided each day. The dining at Falcon's Ledge can be described as country gourmet. Breakfasts are served each morning with a variety of fresh, delicious options including pancakes, French toast, waffles, eggs, bacon, sausage, omelets, bagels, toast, oatmeal, and ham steaks. Lunches are served on the river and include homemade, fresh deli sandwiches, deli wraps, fresh salads, fresh fruit and vegetables, dessert, and drinks. Typical dinners include ribeye steak, pork tenderloin, prime rib, fresh vegetables, fresh salads, and a homemade dessert. The lodge serves homemade jams, syrups, and honey butter with every meal from Utah berry farms. They provide juices, soda pop, tea, and coffee. If you have a favorite drink you would like while at the lodge, please let them know and they will have it here when you arrive.

Alcohol:

Due to state liquor license restrictions, the lodge does not provide alcoholic beverages. Guests are welcome to bring their favorite beverage. There is refrigeration available for beer and wine and mixes for liquor. The lodge staff will gladly serve your wine with dinner.

Your day begins with a hearty breakfast, served at 8:00 AM. The guide team will eat breakfast with guests and go over the agenda for the day. At 9:00 AM, guides and guests will depart from the lodge for rivers. The drive to the rivers is usually around 30 minutes. Fish all morning. Lunch is eaten out on the river around noon to 1:00 PM. Return to lodge about 5:30 PM to relax before dinner. Once back at the lodge there should be plenty of time for a shower or a dip in the pool before dinner at 7:00 PM. Following dinner, guests can return to their room for further relaxation or hang out in the common areas and share fish stories with fellow anglers.

*Please note that this itinerary is subject to change.

Falcon's Ledge’s Orvis Endorsed guides provide guests with guided wade/walk fly fishing on secluded eastern Utah rivers and streams like Rock Creek, the Duchesne, Lake Fork, Strawberry, Uintah, Whiterocks and Yellowstone Rivers. They hold the only National Forest guide permits for Whiterocks, Uintah, Yellowstone, Lake Fork, and Rock Creek; you will not run into any other guided fisherman on these rivers. These and many other smaller streams on the south slope of the Uintas provide the thrill and excitement of catching wild trout on a fly. They guide these mountain freestone streams and tailwaters as catch-and-release to sustain the population of native and wild fish.

Terrain:

Utah's geology and terrain is second to none. From high mountain peaks to red rock canyons and pinnacles, the terrain around Falcon's Ledge is spectacular. The Uintah Mountains behind the lodge offer breathtaking aspen/conifer forests, gorgeous mountain canyons, and beautiful snow-capped granite peaks. The high mountain streams in the Uintah Mountains are just a short drive away but are remote and gorgeous. The rivers below the lodge are medium-sized wading rivers, flowing through red rock canyons with pinnacle formations and beautiful meadows. It is about a 30-minute drive to most of the fishing locations.

Target Species:

Rainbow trout, brown trout, brook trout, cutthroat trout, and tiger trout.

Is this a child-friendly trip?

All kids are different, but those who are able to participate in the many adventures at the Lodge are generally 12-years-old and older. There are no children’s activities.

What other activities are available?

There are many outdoor activities to do while staying at Falcon's Ledge. On the property, there is fishing, a clay pigeon range, bird watching, hiking, star gazing, reading, canoeing, a hot tub, and mountain biking. Within a 30-minute drive of the lodge there are additional activities available including bird hunting, horseback riding, golf, hiking, tours of dinosaur bones and Native American petroglyphs, canoeing, kayaking, and rock climbing.

What is the typical weather?

The elevation at the lodge is 6,500 feet. The fall (September 1-late November) weather is mild with daytime highs typically 60-70 degrees and nighttime lows about 30-40 degrees. Most days are sunny with occasional rainstorms. Precipitation is always a possibility; we suggest guests carry a waterproof rain jacket. Be prepared with clothing layers for varying temperatures and cool evenings. It is best to check the local weather forecast just prior to your trip for the most accurate weather conditions.

What should I bring?

We recommend polarized sunglasses, rain jacket, insect repellent, brimmed hat, sunscreen, bandanna or Buff, camera, prescriptions, toiletries, and alcohol if desired.

What gear do you recommend?

All fishing gear is included in your fishing package. If you do choose to bring your own, here are some recommendations: 81/2 or 9 ft. 5 wt. and 6 wt. rods are our favorites for their versatility. However, many of the smaller streams may be fished with shorter 3 wt. and 4 wt. rods. Most of the time, guides use floating lines but sinking lines can come in handy on the trout lakes. We recommend lightweight, breathable waders and good wading boots. We highly recommend a rain jacket.
