What Should Customers Bring?
Customers should bring non-marring shoes, sunglasses, sunscreen, and camera.
Typical Itinerary
We usually meet at sunrise and head out searching for feeding fish. As the sun comes up we cast near the varied structure of this area. Once the sun is high, we try to sight fish the clear, sandy bottom of the various beaches. During July, August, and September we take advantage of any calm day to go offshore looking for the bluefin tuna that also spend their summers feeding in our waters.
Species You Fish for by Season
We start our season with the striped bass in late May through early October. Bluefin tuna show up in July and stay through October. Bluefish show up with the warmer waters of July and August.
Region/Terrain Where You Fish
I fish the clean, clear waters of Saco Bay, Casco Bay, and the Calendar Islands. Most of my season is spent fishing from Pine Point, Scarborough, Maine. This area is centrally located, just 10 minutes south of Portland, and 20 minutes north of Kennebunk, Maine. There are miles of sandy beaches with clear water, other islands with frothy rocky shores, and river mouths with moving water and currents.
Typical Weather by Season
We start in June with cool mornings. We start early, as sunrise is around 4:30am in June; we start later as the season progresses. July and August are generally calm and warm. As we head into September, the mornings are cooler, afternoons are warm, and the days are a little shorter.
Date Range
I generally fish late May through early October.
