The Story

Enlist the services of Orvis-endorsed guide Wesley Hodges on your wingshooting trip in Virginia. Wesley Hodges has been diligently pursuing ruffed grouse of Virginia and the migrating woodcock for over a decade. The area of operation has the highest concentration of productive covers of anywhere in the state. With over 5,000 acres of premiere habitat, your pursuit of wild birds and wild experiences is sure to be achieved. For those looking to pursue explosive coveys of quail, learn the art of proper dog handling, or just get out for a day with friends or co-workers, Wesley Hodges has hand selected what he feels is the most realistic and beautiful preserve in Virginia. The preserve has hundreds of acres of natural grasslands and highly managed, natural upland habitat. The preserve sets itself apart by having a world-class sporting clay course, so that hunters are properly trained and comfortable before starting their hunt. This preserve is a gem and is only 20 minutes from the outfit.

Highlights:

Grouse, woodcock, quail
Hunt the explosive Appalachian grouse and migrating woodcock in the mountains of Virginia. Pursue large coveys of valley quail on a large, private preserve.
Wesley Hodges prides himself on pursuing all things wild with his highly trained bird dogs. An excellent teacher of local habitat and habits of Virginia's upland hunting.
Rates start at $650 per day for wild birds and $1,000 per day on private preserves. Prices are based on two hunters.
Seasons start mid-October and run until March.
