Follow up review
I wanted to follow up on my previous review. Apparently orvis just received a bad batch of this particular hair, which happens. What is remarkable is the follow up and effort they put into making this tiny issue right. They went above and beyond on their own without me even asking. Honestly it was such a minor thing I would have forgotten about it and went on. With the very few issues I have ever had they more than made it right. Customer service like this is so rare I wanted to give them the credit they deserve.

Natural dark coastal deer hair
I bought this for some fly recipes that called for it. It came dyed a really odd gray and not even the whole patch was dyed. I assumed with the natural dark description that it would be a naturally dark hair. Pretty disappointed which is unusual for me with orvis.

Excellent Material Features
I have only recently started tying Flies and I purchased this product along with several other Fly Tying materials to expand my materials supplies. I have found these materials of top quality and easy to use to produce authentic looking flies for my use this fishing season. I will be purchasing other types of Fly Tying materials in the future as I expand the types of flies I tie.

Thought I was purchasing BLEACHED coastal deer..what i received was far from bleached…looks "natural"…will have to find source for BLEACHED

Great product
I have tied flies for about 30 years now; the Coastal Deer Hair is wonderful for the smaller ISO patterns that I like to tie and fish. I now feel that I can get a more professional appearance on my size 18 and smaller than I did with normal deer hair. I'm glad I bought this product.

Excellent Deer Hair
Orvis tying hair (elk, deer, etc) has always been high quality. This is very nice Coastal Deer Hair, which floats well, ties easily, and floats well. Great for wings or tails.
