The Story

We offer some of the fastest wingshooting the Northeast has to offer. Our well-behaved pointing dogs, who have undergone extensive field training, are always eager to enter a cover. Nothing produces an adrenaline rush more than a rock steady point combined with the sound of the thundering wings of a Ruffed Grouse, or the whistling wings of a woodcock. Here at Grouse Haven we have access to 3,500 acres of excellent Grouse & Woodcock covers. All meals are privately catered in our traditional New England sap house. We hope you can come and experience a classic Grouse & Woodcock hunt with us!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic Michael is a great guide with great dogs. Hunting with him was like hunting with a friend. He understood that I have hunted grouse for 40 + years. Meals were fantastic, so was the company.. I will definitely use him again, fantastic 2 days.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Grouse and woodcock hunting I have been hunting with Michael Browning now for 10 years. I have also hunted with other guides through the years, but none have the passion for grouse and woodcock hunting in the Maine woods like Mike has. He also has a passion for his dogs, both training and working them on hunts. Mike is personable, friendly and fun to hunt with. He has covers that almost always hold birds. This past week, I brought my cousin and good friend with me for the first time to hunt in the Maine woods. He has been hunting various clubs and preserves for pheasant with me for over 20 years. He said that hunting in the wild is much different, and much more fun that anything he has ever done. He also said that he will definitely come back with me next year. If you want a great experience in wild bird hunting, call Michael Browning. You won't be disappointed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Enjoyable Day My dog and I had a very enjoyable day with Michael chasing Woodcock and Grouse. Unfortunately the weather was a little warm so bird contacts was far and few. He has beautiful covers and very well behaved setters. Will do again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great time This was my first time hunting with Michael. And hopefully will not be the last. Great experience. Michael if very good and knowledgeable guide. His dogs are very well trained. On the first day we had pouring rain all day. But we still managed to see plenty of grouse. Second day weather was gorgeous. We saw plenty of woodcock. Not a best time of the year for hunting. Lots of leaves still on the trees, but colors were majestic. I highly recommend hunting in Maine with Michael.
