The Story

Combine your tools and organize your fly-tying desk.

Featuring smooth ball-bearing action, this convenient loop spinner is three tools in one: create tight or loose dubbing noodles with the interchangeable heads or use the slots of the knurled handle for packing hair when a tight hair body or head is needed.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Could be better quality The wire is flimsy and the actual spinner could be smoother

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Dissapointed In thirty years of flyfishing and flytying i never thought i would give any Orvis product a bad review. Unfortunately i have to give this dubbing spinner a bad review!!! I almost sent it back before i used it, it looked such poor quality in the package The spinners lumpy rotation causes the materials you are trying to spin to fall out wasting the material. The wire hooks for holding the dubbing loop open are so soft that just the weight of the spinner can straighten the wire hooks out!!!! It is just a poorly made product that i never thought Orvis would ever sell

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Average Dubbing Loop Spinner The 3-in-1 loop spinner does help tie dubbing into flies. However, the overall execution of the tool is just average. Here are the major detractors: 1. Threading is not precise on the spinning head and loop tools. 2. I had to clean some machining residue out of the spinning head for it to rotate; the head still ratchets, rather than rotate smoothly. 3. The head spins the loop tool rather than the handle (good for lefties I imagine but I am right-handed). 4. I figured out how to use the wire spring and fixed loops watching non-Orvis online videos; some Orvis instructions or a video would have eased my learning curve. 5. Apparently the handle can also serve as a hair stacker, but I have not figured out how to use that function. 6. The on-line catalog is inaccurate (the featured photo does not match the actual tool; the head is not ball-bearing supported; the tool is not made in USA). Despite these, the tool ties nice loops.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Confused also I too am confused by the second "head". Also how does the handle become a hair stacker? Does it come off the tool? How? A little instruction folder (or something on your web site) would help a lot. Without this information, I cannot recommend this product. I would appreciate some help. Thanks!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Bad QA/QC For $29, I would expect better QA/QC by Orvis. I could not use the tool that was shipped to me as the threaded, male ends of the attachments for the 3-in-1 dubbing spinner were too large for the female end of the main part of the tool.
