The Story

We offer fishing on Maine's scenic beaches and rocky shorelines for striped bass, bluefish, and bluefin tuna. I have been guiding in Casco Bay and Saco Bay since 1994. I fish from a Jones Brothers 1910 Light Tackle Edition.

Date Range

I generally fish late May through early October.

What is Provided to Customer

All tackle is provided, from rods to flies.

Region/Terrain Where You Fish

I fish the clean, clear waters of Saco Bay, Casco Bay, and the Calendar Islands. Most of my season is spent fishing from Pine Point, Scarborough, Maine. This area is centrally located, just 10 minutes south of Portland, and 20 minutes north of Kennebunk, Maine. There are miles of sandy beaches with clear water, other islands with frothy rocky shores, and river mouths with moving water and currents.

Typical Weather by Season

We start in June with cool mornings. We start early, as sunrise is around 4:30am in June; we start later as the season progresses. July and August are generally calm and warm. As we head into September, the mornings are cooler, afternoons are warm, and the days are a little shorter.

Sample of Typical Itinerary

We usually meet at sunrise and head out searching for feeding fish. As the sun comes up we cast near the varied structure of this area. Once the sun is high, we try to sight fish the clear, sandy bottom of the various beaches. During July, August, and September we take advantage of any calm day to go offshore looking for the bluefin tuna that also spend their summers feeding in our waters.

What Should Customers Bring?

Customers should bring non-marring shoes, sunglasses, sunscreen, and camera.

Species You Fish for by Season

We start our season with the striped bass in late May through early October. Bluefin tuna show up in July and stay through October. Bluefish show up with the warmer waters of July and August.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Stripers on a Fly Excellent time with Scott. You will be on big fish all day. Just be prepared to use a fly reel that reels on the right as that is all he provides. Very knowledgeable and you will have a great time. Cant wait to go again next year but im gonna bring my own rod!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Guide I have fished with Scott each of the last 4 summers when I go up to Maine. It is always a pleasure. Scott has great knowledge of the fishery and works hard to put you in a position to succeed. This year's outing was excellent as we brought 30+ Stripers to the boat, including some very nice fish. I lost count by 6:00 AM. Scott has top of the line equipment and an easy-going personality. Already looking forward to next year.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Guide We fished with Scott 2 years ago. He provided everything you want in a guide: good equipment - both boat and tackle, very knowledgeable - not just about fishing, but also about the natural history of the area, took us to beautiful spots, and put us on some nice fish. He was very generous with his knowledge, giving us a good overview of fishing the Pine Point area. A very enjoyable morning!
