The Story

Sheridan Anderson, self-described "foe of the work ethic," has put together a beginner fly-fishing book that is an illustrated guide to "the art of fly fishing on moving water" that one must see to fully appreciate. There is much wisdom in this introduction to a difficult sport, all presented in a large cartoon format. Like William Nealy's Kayak, Anderson takes advantage of his multimedia approach to explain aspects of fly fishing, through both words and drawings, that might otherwise be lost on the neophyte. All this is conveyed with a good sense of humor, something beginning fly fishers need in abundance.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Fly Fishing Book ever made This book has been around since the 70's. I have given out over 100 of these books to friends and people who are learning about fly fishing. This is by far the best book ever written about fly fishing. Orvis is a great place to get them as well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fun Guide to Everything About Fly Fishing Too often forgotten awesome resource for introducing or refreshing fly fishing knowledge. Especially helpful in engaging a new generation of fly fishermen and women to the legacy of fly fishing and trout fisheries conservation. Thank you, Orvis, for keeping the Curtis Creek Manifesto on your shelf for us and the fish!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from An Excellent, Concise Book on Fly Fishing I have bought this book twice. It's that good! I bought the first one over 30 years ago when I was in college. Unfortunately, it got destroyed. Two years ago, I got back into fly fishing after a 20 year break, and I bought it again. It has great illustrations and common sense tips. It is a very easy read, and one that I recommend to all ages.
