The Story

Enjoy upland hunting in Union Point, Georgia at Fishing Creek Farms, a private wingshooting preserve. The Fishing Creek Farms team is dedicated to creating enjoyable and relaxing hunting experiences for small groups of family and friends. In keeping with the farm's beginnings as a family retreat, we believe in maintaining an intimate setting in which close compatriots can enjoy the traditions of their sport by day, and relax with a good meal, good wine, and good company around the fire pit by evening. Our hunts are never focused on numbers, but rather a relaxed and considerate environment for our hunters, their guests, and the wildlife.

In the field, strong flying birds are paired with stylish pointing dogs and charismatic flushing dogs to deliver a memorable wing shooting experience. The Fishing Creek team takes pride in offering guests an intimate wing shooting adventure—free from commercialization—where you are welcomed as a true friend of the Taylor family.

The guiding team at Fishing Creek is led by husband/wife team of Scott and Tyla Kuhn. Scott and Tyla run a premier line of Orvis-Endorsed English cocker spaniels alongside German shorthair and English pointers. Their goal is to create a seamless and quality experience in all aspects of the hunt. Their pointing dogs are steady holding point, and their reliable flushing and retrieving dogs ensure an ethical hunt. Scott and Tyla work hard with their dogs throughout the year to achieve quiet perfection in the field, and you'll find that their presence at Fishing Creek Farms will create for you a peaceful hunt characterized by seemingly effortless grace.

While alternate hunting venues certainly exist, the combination of opportune location, exceptional hunting, exquisite accommodations, and gourmet cuisine, all in a private setting, make Fishing Creek Farms a destination not to be missed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from First class experience in every way I've hunting quail preserves all over the Southeast. Fishing Creek Farms was the best experience, no question. Excellent dogs and guides. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great shooting, great dining, great people! The dog work we experienced was excellent, with the guide in complete control. A winning combination of pointers steady to flush and shot and cockers flushing on command and then retrieving (if they could beat the pointers to the bird!). Many birds, mostly in coveys. Two fabulous days in the field! The meals -- and tasty, unique hors d'oeuvres with cocktails -- were memorable, prepared by an enthusiastic chef and equally enthusiastic support staff.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Quail Hunting Experience I had never heard of Fishing Creek Farms until my wife and I were invited to a hunt with him and his wife. When we drove on the property, I could tell that we were in for a treat. They met us in the drive and took all of our stuff to the gun locker and then we had a fantastic lunch of venison meatloaf. After lunch we got into our well appointed lodge room and got ready for the hunt. My wife and I had Ben as a guide so we loaded up in our buggy with Ben and headed out to the field. Birds were plentiful and flew very well and we shot a bunch. The dogs are Pointers with English Cockers flushing and retrieving and it was as much fun to watch the dogs work as it was to shoot the quail. At the end of the hunt, we came back to the lodge where they took our guns and cleaned them while we had cocktails and sat by the fire. The staff then brought appetizers that were absolutely delicious. Dinner was back in the main lodge and again was delicious. The next morning, we did it all again after a hearty breakfast. I can't think of anything they could have done better. Rarely does a lodge check all of the boxes but the staff and guides certainly know how to show real southern hospitality. I will definitely be back!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Five Star Wing Shooting Fishing Creek Farms offers the best quail shooting experience in Georgia - period! From the moment you drive in to the moment you leave the staff is ready and looking forward to catering to your every need. The accommodations are well thought out, comfortable and clean. There are several common areas allowing for mingling with other guests, in private by yourself, or with your companion(s). The chef creatively prepares each meal with the care and quality of a Michelin starred restaurant. I especially enjoy that every meal is served plated, at your seat at the table, rather then the buffet line style as seen in so many other lodges. The house wine is from a well known Napa winery, but if you are looking for something extra special you need only walk a short distance past the plunging pool and into the wine cellar to make your selection. FCF has facilities to accommodate corporate groups, however; they only take out 6 shooters per day. This is especially nice as except for in the changing room you don’t run into another hunting group in the field. The vehicles (Polaris I think) are well maintained and have a roof which is especially nice on very hot or rainy days. The dogs are all breed and trained by one of the lodge managers and are some of the finest trained I’ve seen. It’s a very special place with services beyond expectations. This lodge will remain on our annual list of places to visit.
