The fly-fishing season runs from late May to the end of October. However, we do offer winter, as well as early spring fly-fishing trips upon request depending on weather conditions.
Rainbow, brown, brook, cutthroat, and cuttbow trout are found in the waters around the area. Continuing hatches of caddis, stoneflies, PMDs, hoppers, and BWOs are common.
Telluride Fly Fishers offers walk/wade trips on the San Miguel and Dolores Rivers and high country lakes of the San Juan Mountains near Telluride, Colorado. Red sandstone canyon walls accent clear pools and long freestone runs, creating the ideal fishing experience. Our local rivers and streams excel in beauty and diversity with brook, rainbow, cutthroat, brown and cutbow trout.
We have Colorado blue skies and the possibility of afternoon showers in late July and August. We also typically have cooler mornings with water temperatures of around 40-50 degrees.
