Rated 5 out of 5 by from A True Upland Gun I purchased my Chapuis Classic in 20 gauge with a straight stock, single non selective trigger, and screw in chokes. I had the stock made to my dimensions and my hunting partner (my dog) engraved on the bottom of the receiver. It came through with the stock measurements exactly as ordered and an excellent engraving job, truly a work of art. Having the gun made to my specifications with the engraving cost an additional $1000 and was well worth it. It weighs in at 6 lbs 2 oz and has a well figured stock. Trigger pull is 3.5 lbs for the right barrel and 5.2 for the left with no creep. Barrels are actually 27.5 in long due to conversion from metric. Balance point is about 1/2 inch forward of the hinge. Time from ordering to receipt was well within the predicted window, even in the middle of Covid. First thing I did when I got it home was pattern it. It patterns true to the designation of the choke tubes (something I find is not always the case) with a uniform shot distribution. Pattern is just slightly high, which I prefer for upland hunting. After several days of mounting practice at home, next were several trips to the range. The Olympic Skeet Team has never tried to recruit me, but I shoot this gun very well. Certainly helped having it made to fit me, and I’m growing to really like the slightly weight forward barrels which I think aids in smooth and consistent mount and swing, but may make it seem a bit heavier when carrying in the uplands. Now the true test, the grouse and woodcock covers. It’s now mid October and I’m pleased to say my hit rate is the best it’s ever been on woodcock and grouse, and that’s with about 3 dozen birds taken with this gun. I’ve also been using a couple of other guns, and my hit rate is not nearly as good with them. This is the highest priced shotgun I have ever purchased, but It’s proven to be worth the investment without any doubts. It’s I gun I will be proud to pass down and I’m sure it will see many many years of use in my beloved uplands. Greg was a pleasure to work with and I recommend not only the gun, but the Orvis gun room to anyone looking for quality gun and a satisfying purchase experience.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Beautiful gun, but a little expensive. A beautiful gun. A little on the expensive side, but I would say worth it due to the exquisite craftsmanship. Although have never tested this gun, the only thing I would change is to have double triggers. I may be old school, but after all isn't that the way they are supposed to be?
