Good Quality Pontoon Boat
I’ve tried this boat a couple of days now. It is very maneuverable and responds quick to an oar stroke. I believe it is more responsive than the PAC 9000 I had. Haven’t tried it on windy days yet but that should be coming up fairly soon.
The 12 lbs anchor is not sufficient in moderate currents, I will probably upgrade to a 15 lbs anchor. Threading the rope was a hassle and had to uninstall the pulley on one end of the anchor system. I did not experience this issue on my PAC 9000 which essentially has the exact same system. Hopefully I only will have done this once!
Overall I’m very happy with this boat, it fits in the Outcast Deluxe Boat Bag without having to remove the oar locks or undo the seat from the frame. I do believe the wing nuts holding the seat are too small to tighten by hand and they DO loosen up as the day progresses. Why not put bigger wing nuts which are easier to grab on to?
The rail-mounted Scotty rod holder is a terrible design. If the pipe diameter is not exactly what Scotty recommends, it is impossible to tighten it correctly. I had to wrap duct tape onto the frame and shimmy it with just the right amount of rubber to get a solid grip. This is not Outcast’s fault but they should check out the accessories sold for these pontoon boats.
