Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best school ever! I hope I can get through this without choking up. Several years ago I attended Orvis' 2- day Fly Fishing School in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. I learned so much day one. About an hour into class day 2, I received a call that my father had died of a heart attack. I had to catch the next flight home, missing most of the second day. About two weeks later, I received a beautiful heartfelt sympathy card from the Director of Orvis' Fly Fishing Schools. He had heard of my father passing and offered me a chance to go to any other Orvis School any time in the future, for free! Who does that? Two years later I attended Orvis' school in Colorado. First class school. The instructors were excellent. True experts and very patient. I learned so much and caught a lot of trout. Great experience. That's when I became a loyal Orvis customer. Orvis has demonstrated over and over again how much they care about me, their customer. Since then I've been on several trips with Orvis Travel. My expectations have been exceeded each time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Experience I just started to learn how to fly fish this year, taking the 101 and 201 classes from Bellevue, WA. I decided to really improve my casting by taking the 2 day class in Coeur d'Alene, and had a wonderful experience. I was the only student there, which basically became a private lesson for 2 days. He also equipped me with a Helios 2 5-weight rod, which was amazing to learn on. By the end of the 1st day, I was able to double haul with ease. On the 2nd day, I was able to fish a run with all the techniques we learned, all while hooking up with multiple fish. Thanks, Pat!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great school Great time Pat is a great instructor and a good guide to the Coeur d'Alene River system. His information reinforced what I had learned in Orvis 101, 201 and 301. He helped me learn how to cast better and in the second day of the school on the river I caught my first native cutthroat trout. Will return to the area next year for another outing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Super Experience Anyone thinking about learning fly fishing should take this class. It is first rate. Pat is an excellent instructor and conveys the information so that everyone can understand. Pat and Brian had everyone in the class casting by the end of the first day. Videotaping was really helpful. And, the school being held in one of the prettiest places in the west doesn't hurt either. On the 2nd day we fished the awesome Coeur d'Alene river, where the scenery is drop dead gorgeous. Everyone received personal on-river attention. And, everyone caught fish. If you are thinking about the sport and thinking about teaching yourself, don't. Get a super high quality, professional introduction from the Orvis schools and the Northwest Outfitters.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exceeds Expectations My son and I had a marvelous experience at the beautiful Coeur d' Alene fly fishing school. My son had never held a fly rod and I was self taught. The school gave both of us the skills and knowledge to feel comfortable fly fishing with people of any skill level. Pat Way was a great instructor.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great School, Highly Recommended I'm not sure why this is showing up as a new school, but I went to the school taught by Northwest Outfitters in Coeur d'Alene three years ago and absolutely loved it. It is taught by guys who love to fish, and love to teach people how to fish. Since then, I've gone back to Idaho several times to use them as guides, and they never disappoint. I've always known that they're extremely knowledgeable, but after using other guiding services in other parts of the country (and the world), I've realized just how good these guys really are. This is a "can't miss" program.
