Orvis Pro Wading Boot

The Orvis PRO Wading boot boasts exceptional traction thanks to Michelin's innovative outsole.

Details

What better partner can one have to radically improve wading traction than the world leader in traction technology. In an industry-first collaborative effort with Michelin®, Orvis introduces the PRO Wading Boot, built on an outsole compound specifically designed for fly fishing. Using Michelin agricultural tires as inspiration, this revolutionary new sole design is an industry-disrupting advance in wet rubbber traction and “river feel” from two companies with a combined 285 years of innovation in their respective fields. The Michelin Outdoor Extreme outsole compound offers 25% better abrasion resistance and a resounding 43% improvement in wet rubber traction. Using Michelin tire geometry, it offers a wider footprint for stability, a higher ratio of surface contact, a lug pattern that reduces shock and improves pressure distribution, and 12 strategically placed stud locations. The two-layer midsole has a co-molded ESS plate that provides improved stud retention and torsional stability. The shock-absorbing Phylon midsole improves river feel and comfort and compresses less than standard EVA midsoles. Orvis partnered with OrthoLite®, the global leader in insole design to create a 3D molded X25 insole designed for high-impact sports, delivering maximum comfort, breathability, and arch support. The upper is built of quick-drying Clarino microfiber that provides a better strength-to-weight ratio than traditional leather. A cast PU upper eliminates seams while providing a zoned cage for added stability, grip, and extreme abrasion resistance without the added bulk. There is no stitching on the toe to eliminate potential seam failure and the boot is double stitched on the heel to lock down the structure. The boot is designed with a higher cut to provide ankle support and lined with closed-cell foam that absorbs less moisture and reduces drying time. Scratch rubber at the toe cap and heel enhance abrasion resistance, an oversized heel pull facilitates easier on-and-off, and tightly woven laces improve abrasion resistance and reduce broken laces. Imported.
