The Story

Swords are mainly for fancy streamers, wets, and salmon flies. One of the most widely used feathers in fly tying, herl is used for bodies and wings; eyed tails may be stripped with a pencil eraser for quill bodies. Peacock feathers have a shine and texture that imitates many insects very well.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor quality Herl has virtually no substance to it. Unusable for tying nymphs or any other fly. Inferior quality priced like first quality.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Quality The peacock eye feathers I received for Orvis were excellent quality, especially the herls around the eye, which I have found to be the best area of the feather.
